Obituary

John Bockes was born in Summerset county, Pennsylvania, March 16, 1860, and died at his home in Clay township, Wednesday, November 29, 1898, of typhoid fever and liver trouble.

The deceased was married to Miss Lizzie Wetmiller, November 11, 1889, and to this union was born two sons and two daughters. Mr. Bockes was a man of exemplary habits and was a kind and affectionate husband and father. He was a good neighbor and was always ready to extend a helping hand to those who needed assistance.

The funeral services were held at Alice church last Sunday morning, Rev. Smith of Conrad, preaching the sermon. The Odd Fellows lodge of Beaman had charge of the remains and at the cemetery the beautiful and impressive ritualistic service was held by the members of that lodge and all that was mortal of John Bockes was laid to rest to await the final resurrection.

Notwithstanding that Sunday was an extremely cold day there were a large number of people present from the different localities of the county to pay their last respects to the dead.

Besides the wife and children, the deceased leaves an aged father and mother and a large number of relatives to mourn his untimely death.
