Dr. Donald Dudden Rites Friday
Funeral services for Dr. Donald P. Dudden were held Friday, June 20, 1975 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethany Presbyterian church, Grundy Center, with Rev. Calvin W. Vanderwerf and Rev. Kermit Rye of the American Lutheran church, Grundy Center, officiating.
David Kruse sang "How Great Thou Art". He was accompanied by Mrs. T. J. Heronimus, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
The casket bearers were Dan Kruse, Roger Dudden, Ronald Dudden, Roland Dudden, Leonard Ralston and Martin DeBower.
Mrs. Bill Harken and Mrs. Vernon Klosterboer were in charge of the floral arrangements. Ushers were Edward Flater, Lloyd Dreesman, Paul Harberts and Elky DeVries. Interment was in the Rose Hill cemetery, Grundy Center.
Graveside presentation of the American Flag was made to the family by the military escort, Capt. Joseph Schouten from the Minot Air Force Base, Minot, North Dakota.
Dr. Dudden was born December 17, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa. He attained the age of 27 years, 5 months and 29 days and died Monday afternoon, June 16, when the plane he was flying solo nosedived in a field near the Minot, North Dakota air base.
Don was the son of Carl M. and Dorothy Dirks Dudden. He attended the Grundy Center high school and graduated in 1966; attended UNI and graduated in 1970 and then entered the University of Iowa School of Dentistry.
On August 18, 1972 at the Bethany Presbyterian church he was united in marriage to LuAnn Fink. He was graduated from the School of Dentistry on May 18, 1974 after which he entered the Air Force in July, 1974 with a commission as a Captain.
Dr. Dudden was a member of the American Dental Association; Delta Sigma Delta dental Fraternity; Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Iowa City; and previously was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian church, Grundy Center.
Don is survived by his wife, LuAnn; father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dudden; grandmother, Mrs. Fannie Dirks; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Fink, all of Grundy Center.
A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
