Aplington, Ia., May 18--Enno K. Harken, age 67, a resident of this county for 43 years, died Saturday. He was born at Ellsing, Ostfriesland, Germany, April 4, 1853. In the spring of 1870 he landed in America and went to Forreston, Ill. In 1877 he came to Butler county and Oct. 25 of the following year he was united in marriage to Miss Wendell F. Toomson. Six children were born, three of whom died in infancy. The three daughters, who, with the widow survive, are Mrs. John Neymeyer, south of town and Dina and Emma at home. Two brothers and one sister also survive, Isbrant K., Ackley; Remt, Austinville, and Mrs. George Heyer, Kamran. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. After coming to Butler county he lived on a farm until about five years ago, when he moved with his family. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home, thence to German Presbyterian church where he was a faithful member for years and will be conducted by the pastor Rev. Mr. Agena. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining the church.
