Millard Bales Dies Suddenly

Millard Bales, the 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bales, died at Kansas City from complications following an attack of the flu, on Friday, January 23rd. The body was brought to Wellsburg, and taken to the home south of town, where a private funeral was held, Rev. H. E. Keller officiating.

Millard was attending an auto instruction school at Kansas City at the time of his death. He was a boy of marked ability with machinery and was always tinkering with the farm machinery from an early age. His loss in the flower of his youth will be a great sorrow to his parents and a regret to all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents and a brother and three sisters. The father, William Bales, has been at a hospital in Marshalltown, for some days, and is in a serious condition, having at one time been so low that he was not expected to live. At last accounts his condition was somewhat improved.

The pallbearers for Millard's funeral were the two Hogle boys, Sam Turner, Mel Brewer, Oscar Anderson, and Wesley Frederickson.--Wellsburg Herald
