Amos Pabst Dies Suddenly At Home Monday

Amos Pabst, who had been a resident of Grundy county nearly all of his life, died quite suddenly at his home at 4:20 Monday morning. A heart attack was given as the cause of his death. He had been confined to his home several weeks from a hand infection. He was 71 years old.

Funeral services will be held at Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center at two o'clock Thursday afternoon. The services will be conducted by Rev. F. J. Langenberg. Burial will be in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Was Born in Illinois
Mr. Pabst was born in Stephenson county, Ill., Dec. 12, 1872. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Rolf Pabst. The family moved to Grundy county when Amos was a small boy. They located on a farm in Lincoln township.

Amos Pabst and Nancy Kruger were married 50 years ago. The wife died in childbirth about a year after their marriage. The child was also dead at birth. Forty-two years ago Mr. Pabst married a second time. The second wife was Emma Kruger. She died 14 years ago.

Mr. Pabst lived on a Grundy county farm until 31 years ago when he and his family moved to Grundy Center. For several years after coming to town he was a teamster.

Surviving are three sons and one daughter. The sons are Pete, who is in the army and who is now stationed in Alaska, Ralph A. and Buster of Grundy Center. The daughter, Mrs. Joe Grimmius, lives at Lincoln. Five of the children are dead. Other surviving relatives are three brothers, John, Christ and Ralph, and two sisters, Mrs. John H. Graves and Mrs. Claire Amburn, all of Grundy Center.
