Mrs. Lupke Hook Dead
The death of Mrs. Lupke Hook occurred at her home three miles west of Holland on Thursday, July 29, 1909, after an illness lasting several months. The funeral services were held at the Drake church, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. E. Drake who had for his text Luke 10:42. Interment took place in the church cemetery.
Wobke, beloved wife of Lupke Hook was born in Pleasant Valley township Grundy co., Iowa, December 27, 1886. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolf Junker and was a most faithful help to her mother until she was married to Mr. Hook on February 26, 1908.
During this brief but happy union they had fairly settled down in their new home in Colfax township when she was afflicted with a complication of diseases causing her to fail rapidly. All that medical aid and the care of kind friends could do was done but the Master had need of her and called her to himself.
Her loving, winning ways made her many friends and so large was the crowd that the seating capacity of the church was too small. Two hundred and twenty-five teams were in attendance.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, parents, three brothers, seven sisters and a large circle of relatives and friends.
