Funeral services will be held for John F. Graham, age 45, who died Wednesday morning, at the Colfax Presbyterian church Saturday, August 16, at 2 p.m. A short prayer service will be held at the Jurgen H. Dieken residence in Lincoln township, prior to the church services.
John F. Graham was born December 4, 1901, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Graham, in London, England. His parents were missionaries in China. He spent his boyhood in China. In 1923 he came to Chicago and obtained his advanced schooling in mission training at the Moody Bible Institute. In 1928 he returned to China as a missionary. May 15, 1930, he was married to Ella Dieken in Yannanfu, Yunnan Province, China. In 1936 they returned to the United States for a year's furlough, and returned to China in 1937. In August of 1946 they returned to Iowa for another furlough. He became ill the 26th day of June, 1947, and was taken to the hospital in Waterloo. On the 26th of July he was taken to Rochester, Minn. He returned to Cedar Falls, August 7th, and to Grundy Center to the Harm Groote residence on August 12th. He died August 13th at 3:30 a.m. in Grundy Center. He was 45 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, one son, Jack, and a daughter, Enid. His father and stepmother, and three sisters are living in England. His mother and brother preceded him in death. Burial will be in the Colfax Center cemetery.
Because of Mr. Graham's devout interest in Missions, the family desires that friends present memorial gifts to Missions of their choice in place of sending flowers at the time of his funeral service.
