Mrs. John Kruse, Lifelong Resident, Dies At Hospital

Funeral services for Mrs. John J. Kruse, 77, were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Engelkes Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.

Rev. Wiert Eekhoff officiated at the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Special music for the service was provided by vocalist Alvin Smit, while Miss Karen Elaine Kruger was organist.

Pallbearers were Harlan Dirks, Elmer Schultz, John H. Meyer, John W. Maas, George Ebert and Lenus Paterni.

Mrs. Kruse passed away Saturday evening in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient the past two weeks. She had been ill with carcinoma for several years.

Obituary
Elizabeth Meyer Kruse was born February 17, 1884, in Colfax township, the daughter of J. P. and Hilka Meyer.

On December 30, 1905, she was united in marriage to John J. Kruse. The couple resided on a farm north of Holland in Colfax township until June 1, 1943, when they retired and moved to their present home in Grundy Center.

Mr. Kruse died May 1, 1958.

The deceased became a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church on May 6, 1917, and she faithfully served the church throughout her life. During this time she was a Sunday school and catechism teacher.

Surviving are one son, Clarence, of Holland; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Peter J. and Eilert of Grundy Center, and Henry of Aplington; and four sisters, Mrs. Gretta Jaspers, of Wellsburg, Mrs. Rena Maas of Holland, Mrs. Henry (Tena) Schulta, and Mrs. Minnie Dirks, of Grundy Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother in infancy, her husband, and one son, Lucas, who passed away in March, 1938.
