Mrs. Joe Snittjer Found Dead Monday

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the home and later at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Joe Snittjer who died of a heart attack at her home. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Mrs. Snittjer was found lying dead on her bed partly clothed on Monday about 4:30 p.m. by Mrs. Heye Boomgarden who had gone to the Snittjer home. She was believed to have died sometime early Monday or Sunday evening.

The deceased was 88 years old last March. A complete obituary will be published in next week's issue of the Herald.

Funeral Services For Mrs. J. D. Snitjer Held Thursday

Last rites for Mrs. J. D. Snitjer were held Thursday afternoon, July 26, 1956 at 1:00 p.m. at the home and later at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. Officiating clergyman was Rev. Wiert Eckhoff. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Music was furnished by a men's quartet, Irvin Dieken, Elmer Dieken, Alvin Smit and Claus Kruger accompanied by Mae Engelkes. Casketbearers were Sam Ross, Fred Getting, Henry Siefken, Adam Siefken, Albert Siefken and Sam Siefken.

Following is the obituary. Margreta Siefken, was born in Stevenson county, Illinois on March 18, 1868. In the year of 1888 she was joined in marriage to Daniel Snittjer and lived on the farm until they retired to Wellsburg in 1913.

Her first husband passed away on September 20, 1926. On November 8, 1929 she was joined in marriage to her husband's brother, Johann Snitjer. Johann died on February 11, 1945.

It was at a communion service in 1890 that Mrs. Snitjer heard the call of God in her life to present her soul and her life to Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and Lord, thereby becoming a Communicant member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church of Holland, Iowa.

Last Sunday she was in her place in church. From church she went home to die. Her body was found Monday afternoon. She had departed to be with her Lord. She reached the physical age of 88 years, 4 months and 5 days.

Mrs. Snitjer was the last of her family. Her parents, her 2 husbands, 1 sister and 5 brothers preceded her in death.
