Harry Meester Died August 27

Harry Meester, 81, died at noon on Tuesday, August 27, at his home in Pleasant Valley township. His wife preceded him in death by 13 days.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, August 29, at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jerry VanCurler and Rev. Glenn Dieken officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Ray Hinders, organist and Mrs. Tom Simms, vocalist.

Casket bearers were his neighbors, James Meester, Marlyn Pruis, Marvin Eiklenborg, Jake VanHauen, William Everts and Harvey Muller. Interment was made in the Grundy Center Cemetery.

Harry Meester, son of Jacob and Antje Everts Meester, was born on the Meester home farm in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy County, on December 27, 1892. He lived all of his adult life on his own farm adjoining the farm on which he was born. He was united in marriage on April 20, 1931 with Miss Jessie Rodgers.

Harry had been in ill health for a number of years and was 81 years and 8 months old at the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 4 sisters and 5 brothers. Surviving are his son, Donald, daughter-in-law, Mary Lou; 3 grandchildren; 1 brother, Andrew of rural Holland and numerous other relatives.
