Obituary--Henrietta VanderLas

Henrietta VanderLas was born Oct. 16, 1870, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With her parents she came to Holland, Iowa, in Dec. 1874, where her father Rev. VanderLas accepted the call from the Presbyterian church in Colfax township, becoming a member of this church while a young girl.

From her 10th year she was an intense sufferer, submitting to many operations to relieve her pain. With Jacob she might say "Few and well have the days of the years of my life been" but she also realized "For our light affliction which is but for a moment worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory."

She died following a severe operation in the Findly hospital at Dubuque, Iowa, April 14, 1916. She leaves to mourn her departure her sisters, Mrs. Jennie Knock, Mrs. Martha Everds, Mrs. Susie Kruse, Mrs. Gertie Brell and her brother Bernard.

Rev. Krome, her pastor assisted by Rev. Drake, conducted the service at the German Presbyterian church in Colfax township, where interment took place.
