Franz Venenga Died at Holland Monday Night

Franz Venenga died at his home in Holland about midnight on Monday night. He was sick most of the past year. He would have been 83 years old had he lived until next month.

Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran church in Holland Friday afternoon. The services will be in charge of Rev. J. E. Drake and Rev. George Swalve.

Lived in Holland 28 Years
Mr. Venenga had resided in Holland the past twenty-eight years. He was born in Ostfriesland, Germany, and came to this country 50 years ago. The family lived in Illinois the first five years after they came to this country. From there they moved to Sibley where they lived on a farm for 17 years. They came from Sibley to Holland to make their permanent home.

Surviving are the wife and six children. The children are Otto of Brewster, Minn., Frank and Harm of Grundy Center, Mrs. John Bettenga, Grundy Center, Mrs. Harm Jaspers, Wellsburg, and Mrs. Harm Dreesman, Grundy Center.

Franz Venenga

Franz Venenga was born in Germany June 27, 1855, and died May 16, 1938, at Holland, Iowa, aged 82 years, 10 months, 19 days.

Funeral services were held May 20 at the Lutheran church at Holland, Rev. J. E. Drake and Rev. George Swalve officiating. Burial was in the Holland cemetery.

When a young man, he came to America, first stopping at Forreston, Ill., where he was married to Marie Koris. Living there five years, they came to Holland, where they lived for some time. From Holland they moved to Sibley, where they were engaged in farming. They retired 29 years ago, returning to Holland, where he lived until his death. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary five years ago.

To them were born six children, who with the mother survive. They are Otto Venenga, Brewster, Minn.; Kate, Mrs. Harm Jaspers, Wellsburg; Tillie, Mrs. John Bettenga; Harm Venenga; Mary, Mrs. Tom Dreesman, and Frank Venenga, all of Grundy Center; also 29 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
