James Itzen Services Held

James Lynn Itzen, of Grundy Center, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, at his residence of natural causes. He attained the age of 46 years, 9 months and 2 days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran church in Grundy Center. Burial was in the Holland Cemetery. Pastor Paul C. Nelson officiated. A memorial fund has been established.

Jim was born on December 28, 1951, in Marshalltown the son of Harm W. and Lily R. (Harms) Itzen. He was united in marriage to Pauline Petersen on December 11, 1976 in Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Cedar Falls. Jim attended school in Grundy Center. Jim worked for Grundy County Landfill and recycling department. He also operated his own lawn care and snow removal business.

Jim was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. He loved antiques and had his own special names for his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother, Steven Joel.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline; son, Levi of Grundy Center; 2 daughters, Lane and Echo both at home; mother, Lily Itzen of Holland; a brother and his wife, William and Bridget Itzen of Grundy Center; 2 sisters and their husbands, Connie and John Lenius of Waterloo and Candace and William Pollock of Des Moines; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
