Viola Hansen Services Held

Viola M. Hanson, of Grundy Center, passed away on Saturday, October 11, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center of natural causes, having attained the age of 84 years, 11 months and 17 days.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Holland Christian Reformed Church. Burial followed in the Holland Cemetery. Rev. Gary Nebbelink officiated. A memorial fund has been established.

Pallbearers were Charles Kruse, Clarence Kruse, Paul Hook, Leslie Hanson, James Albers and Mike Albers.

Viola was born on October 24, 1912, in Holland the daughter of James A. and Louise C. (Dirks) Smith. On January 8, 1938, she was united in marriage with John B. Hanson in Holland.

Viola was a homemaker and took care of elderly people in their homes. Viola was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1949; an infant daughter Glenda Jo Hanson; her parents; and 2 brothers-in-law, Jake Schoneman and Benjamin Hook.

Survivors include 3 sons, Donald Hanson of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Russell Hanson and wife Marlene of Cedar Falls and David Hanson of Town Creek, Alabama; 2 daughters, Marilyn Uhlenberg of Waterloo and Ann Pike of Madison, Wisconsin; 3 grandchildren, Leslie, Rosalie and Chad Hanson; 3 great-grandchildren, Laura, Michelle and Michael Hanson; and 2 sisters, Mary Schoneman of Holland and Hazel Hook of Wellsburg.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
