Mrs. Dick Luhrs Buried Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Dick Luhrs, 55, of Holland, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the new Holland Christian Reformed Church with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Casketbearers were Jake Hemmen, Edward Sonnenberg, Tom Dreesman, Vernon Stahl, Elmer Muller, and Warren Anderson.

Special music for the service was provided by vocalists Mrs. Henry Siefken and LaVern Dieken, accompanied by Mrs. Marvin Graves.

Mrs. Edwin Brower and Mrs. Will Hinders Jr. were flower attendants.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Luhrs died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at her home in Holland of a heart attack. She had been in apparent good health and her sudden death came as a great shock to her many friends.

Anna Sonnenberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sonnenberg, was born January 3, 1914, in Holland.

She attended school in Holland, and was graduated from Grundy Center high school in 1935. She also attended Grundy College for two years.

On September 30, 1942, she was united in marriage to Dick Luhrs at Holland. The couple made their home in Holland.

She was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church, and was very active in church work. She was a member of the Womens Guild, Mission Workshop, and the Willing Workers Society. Mrs. Luhrs also was a member of the Colfax Sunshine Study Club.

Survivors include her widower; one daughter, Mrs. Marley (Gretchen) Freesemann, Grundy Center; two sons, Dennis, a student at Iowa State University, Ames, and Lee Allan, at home; also one brother, Chris B. Sonnenberg, Holland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
