Mrs. Edw. Aswegan Dies In Hospital
Mrs. Edward Aswegan died in the Grundy Hospital at 7:45 Thursday morning. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at her home Wednesday and was taken to the hospital shortly after she was stricken. She had been in good health up to the time she was stricken. She was 42 years old.
The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home where funeral arrangements were made. Services were at the funeral home at 1:30 Monday afternoon and later at the Methodist church in Grundy Center. Rev. E. E. Basye officiated at the service. Burial was in the cemetery at Holland.
Mrs. Aswegan's maiden name was Esther Brower. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brower. She was born at Holland June 3, 1917, and she grew up there.
On October 4, 1940, Esther Brower and Edward Aswegan were married. The first four years of their married life was on the Paul Holeman farm. They resided at the Carl Brown farm for the same length of time. Then they were at the Raymond Lynn farm a number of years. The last six years they occupied the tenant house on the R. S. Plager farm west of Grundy Center.
Surviving are the husband and three daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Russell Burdick, Waterloo, and Dorothy and Lois who are at home and attend school in Grundy Center. Other near relatives are her mother, Mrs. Andrew Stahl, Holland; three brothers, Carl and Edward, Holland, and Cal, Grundy Center. There are two surviving sisters, Mrs. Berdene Graham, Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Alice Reisinger, Eldora.
