Mrs. Tonjes Hinders Dies at Cedar Falls
Mrs. Tonjes Hinders died at 8:20 Monday evening at the Christie Convalescent Home at Cedar Falls where she had made her home the past two years. She was 86 years and 9 months old. Death was due to old age and complications.
Mrs. Hinders was born in Rysum, Germany, Sept. 17, 1867. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Harberts. At the age of 16 she came to this country and to this county and made her home here continually up to the past two years.
She was married to Tonjes Hinders in this county. For several years they resided a mile and a half east of Holland, during the time that her husband was a cream hauler. After that time Mrs. Hinders made her home in Holland and in Grundy Center.
Surviving are four children, Mrs. Wilhelmina Schmidt, Pierre, South Dakota; Tony Hinders, of Grundy Center; Will at Holland; and Mrs. Fanny Eilers, Grundy Center. There are 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
