Chas. L. Conradi Died Wednesday
Charles L. Conradi, who had been a resident of Grundy county during the past 71 years, died at his home two miles northwest of Grundy Center at eight o'clock Wednesday morning. He had been in fairly good health up to the time he suffered a paralytic stroke about two weeks ago. He was taken to the Grundy hospital immediately after he was stricken, but later was returned to his home. He was 77 years old last July.
Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 at Methodist church in Grundy Center. Rev. Leroy Bauman will conduct the services. Burial will be in the cemetery in Holland.
Charles Conradi was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Conradi. He was born in New York State. At the age of six he, with other members of his family, came to Grundy county where they resided on a farm, and where Charley grew to manhood. He went into the drug business in Holland after he had passed the state pharmacy examination. That was in 1901. He continued in business in Holland until 1919 when he bought a farm two miles northwest of Grundy Center which has been the home for himself and wife ever since. He discontinued active farm work a few years ago and rented his land, but retained his residence on his farm.
Married 53 Years Ago
Charles L. Conradi and Anna Poduska from Cedar Rapids were married in Mt. Vernon, August 14, 1901. Three years ago last August they observed their golden wedding anniversary.
Surviving are the wife, one son and three daughters. The son is Carl Conradi, Grundy Center. The daughters are Mrs. Albert Bowen, Waterloo; Mrs. Curtis Burge, of Houston, Texas; and Mrs. Max Jennings, Arlington, Iowa. There are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Conradi was the last of the Henry Conradi family to be taken by death.
