William B. Buus Dies Suddenly

William B. Buus, long-time resident of Holland and vicinity, died suddenly at his home in Holland at about 1:45 Saturday afternoon following a heart attack. He had not felt well Friday night and he remained in bed Saturday morning. His daughter Beulah called a doctor about noon, and following an examination an ambulance was called to take him to the Grundy Center hospital, but he died before he could be removed from his home.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 at the home Tuesday afternoon, followed by services at the Christian Reformed church. Rev. Henry Petersen was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Holland cemetery.

William B. Buus was born May 30, 1878, at Dubuque, Kans., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Buus. When he was 12 years old, the family moved to South Dakota. Fifty years ago he came to Wellsburg, where he was employed in a meat market. December 20, 1904, he was married to Tillie Frerichs at Wellsburg. Later the family moved to a farm south of Holland, where they farmed until 1930, when the family moved to Holland. He was employed for a time in the lockers at Holland.

Mr. Buus suffered a heart attack about five years ago, and had since been careful of his health.

Mrs. Buus died in 1944. A daughter died in infancy, and a son, Hermanus (Mac) died in 1945.

Surviving are two sons: Bernard of Grundy Center, and Rev. C. Oliver Buus of Grand Rapids, Mich., and one daughter, Beulah, at home. There are also five grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Lena Smit, Madison, So. Dakota; Mrs. Reka Bergman, Corona, So. Dakota; Mrs. Kate Kettwig, Cedar Falls.
