Services For Her Held Tuesday In Lutheran Church, At Holland, By Rev. Athenstoedt
Obituary
Mrs. Hannah Jansen, nee Dieken, was born in 1837, in Ostfriesland, Germany. Here she spent her youth, was confirmed and married. In the year of 1869 she and her husband emigrated to America and made their home in Freeport, Ill. Five years later they moved to Cleves, Ia., living there twenty years. In 1900 they moved to Holland, Ia., where Mrs. Jansen became a member of the Lutheran church. Mr. Jansen preceded her in death five years ago, and their only daughter died eight years ago.
Two weeks ago, Mrs. Stahl, the grandchild, took Mrs. Jansen to her home and cared for her. Saturday the old lady asked for the Lord's Supper, which was given to her by Rev. J. Athenstoedt. Sunday evening she died, having reached an age of 85 years, 7 months and 16 days. Her death is mourned by four grandchildren, besides many friends.
The funeral services were held Tuesday at Holland, in the Lutheran church. Rev. Athenstoedt officiating. She is buried in the Lutheran cemetery at Holland.
