Rites Friday For Geo. Rademaker
Funeral services for George Rademaker will be Friday, January 6, at 12:30 p.m. at the O. J. Engelkes home in Fern, and later at the Parkersburg Reformed church, two miles west of Fern. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Peter Koenen will officiate.
George Rademaker was born March 6, 1869, in Visquard, Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Rademaker. He came to this country, Beaver township, Grundy county, May 1, 1889. He was married to Johanna Bergman on Nov. 30, 1893, in Beaver township. They farmed in Beaver township, except for eight years when they farmed near Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Mrs. Rademaker died Nov. 20, 1912. He continued to farm until 1928 when he retired. Since then he had made his home with his children.
He had been in poor health for several years. He was in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital for 13 weeks. The past 3 1/2 months he had been at the Clemens Nursing Home in Marshalltown. He passed away there at about 9:30 p.m. Monday.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. O. J. Engelkes of Fern and Mrs. Henry B. Engelkes of Grundy Center; one son, Joe, of Holland; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son in infancy, one son, Harm, in 1955, and a half-brother, George Doeden.
