Louis Gerloff Died In Michigan

Louis Gerloff who spent all but a few years of his life on a Grundy county farm died last Thursday at Pine Rest sanatarium, Cutlerville, Michigan, where he was taken for care and treatment about four years ago. Death followed a stroke which came to him the day before. He was 72 years old last January.

Funeral services were held at the home in Colfax township at 1:30 Monday afternoon and later at the Pleasant Valley Reformed church. Rev. A. Linnemann officiated at the service. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Obituary
Louis Christian Gerloff passed away Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the age of 72 years, 6 months, 4 days. He was born in Ogle county, Ill., Jan. 4, 1876. At the age of two, he moved with his parents to Grundy county. He spent most of his life in the vicinity of Holland. He was married to Maria Flater on March 26, 1908. This union was blessed with five children.

Surviving are his grief-stricken wife; two sons, George of Holland and Henry of Grundy Center; 3 daughters, Mrs. Louise Ross, at home, Mrs. Annie Hempen and Mrs. Millie Abbas, both of Grundy Center; 13 grandchildren; one aged brother, William, of Little Rock, Iowa; besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Henry, Fritz and Charley.
