T. F. Tammen Dies On His 59th Birthday
Tamme F. Tammen the subject of this sketch was born on January 23, 1854 at Buren, Ostfriesland Germany and died at his home at Parkersburg on Jan. 23, 1913.
Mr. Tammen had been ailing most of the time since last fall but it was thought he was improving until a sudden relapse a few days prior his death. His sickness began by a severe cold which settled in his head. An operation was found necessary after which he seemed to improve in fine shape and was able to be out again. He suffered greatly at the last but passed peacefully away Thursday in the morning.
He was united in marriage to Frauke M. Lumken, to this union were born six children, of whom three passed away in infancy, one son, two daughters surviving.
The deceased leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, one son, Renke L., two daughters, Mrs. Herman Lumken of this township, and Miss Fannie at home. Also three brothers, Thees and Fritz of Parkersburg, and Johan, of Nokomis, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. T. Nantkes of Illinois, and one in Germany, besides a son-in-law, daughter-in-law and one grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted by his pastor Rev. Siemsen were held Wednesday afternoon at the Reformed church and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot. The floral offerings were large and very beautiful.
