Rozella Janssen Dies Saturday

Mrs. Rozella Janssen of 811 4th Street, Parkersburg, died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 1980, in her home. She had suffered from an illness for over five years. She had reached the age of 62 years, 4 months, 27 days.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 30th, 1980, in the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg with Rev. E. H. Buschman of Grundy Center officiating. The organist was Miss Arlyce Lindeman and the vocal duet of Janice Johnson and Charles Juel provided the special music. Casketbearers were: Arthur Haan, Eugene Fry, LaVerne Schurman, Kenneth Penning, Leonard Sherman, and Melvin Sherman. Interment followed in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Cemetery, rural Holland.

Rozella was born the daughter of Jake and Tillie Schurman Sherman on July 30th, 1918, in Kesley, Iowa. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1938, and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls for two years.

Mrs. Janssen was a member of the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg and had been employed the past 13 years as an Assistant Associate at River Hills School in Cedar Falls.

Mrs. Janssen is survived by her: mother, Mrs. Tillie Ostendorf, who Rozella resided with for the last seven years; a sister, Mrs. Bernard M. (Leona) Engelkes of Holland, Iowa, and a brother, Ray (Bud) Sherman of Redding, California. Rozella was preceded in death by her father and a brother Richard Sherman.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
