Henry C. Brower Dies at Hospital

Henry C. Brower, who was born in Colfax township and who grew up here, died last Thursday morning at the Lutheran hospital in Hampton. Death followed an operation for a ruptured appendix two days before. He had been in failing health during most of the past year.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Pleasant Valley Reformed church west of Fern. Burial was in the cemetery that adjoins the church. There was a very large attendance at the funeral service. 400 partook of lunch in the church following the services.

Henry Brower was 65 years, 2 months and 2 days old on the date of his death. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Brower, early residents of Colfax township. Henry was born on a Colfax township farm and grew up there. He was married to Anna Carsjens Wilson in Colfax township October 10th, 1921. The couple began housekeeping on the home farm. A few years later they moved to a farm south of Grundy Center. After that they resided in Grundy Center. Seven years ago they moved to Ackley, where he was employed as a meat cutter.

Surviving are the wife, one son and four daughters. The daughters are Mrs. John Meents, Mrs. George Siemens, Parkersburg; Carolyn, Anna Mae and the son John are at home. There is one step-son, Wilbur Wilson. Other surviving relatives are four brothers and three sisters. The brothers are Harm and Cuno, Watertown, S.D.; Dick from Holland and Pete, Grundy Center. The sisters are Mrs. Dick Johnson, Aplington, Mrs. Adam Poppen, Holland, and Mrs. Etta Behrends, of Grundy Center.

Among relatives from a distance who were present at the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Harm Brower and Mrs. Cuno Brower, Watertown, South Dakota.
