Clarence D. Aukes, 58
Clarence Duane Aukes, of Parkersburg, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at his home, rural Parkersburg, of a brief cancer illness. He reached the age of 58 years, two months and 24 days.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Parkersburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeanne Koughn officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery, rural Wellsburg.
Pallbearers were Dave Swanson, Duane Arends, Bill Badger, Eric Simon, Wayne Dudley and Russ Simon.
Clarence was born the son of Harm and Lena (Rewerts) Aukes on March 23, 1941 in Grundy County, rural Wellsburg. He was raised on farms near Wellsburg and the Buck Grove area. Clarence received his education near his home from a country school in Buck Grove, the public schools in Parkersburg, Aplington and Wellsburg where he graduated in 1959.
On June 13, 1959 Clarence Aukes was united in marriage with Sally Weichers in Wellsburg. They made their home in the Wellsburg and Buck Grove areas. Clarence and Sally were divorced in October, 1983.
Clarence was recently married to Judy Williams Karsjens on June 8, 1999 in their present home near Buck Grove. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Wellsburg. Clarence's occupations were trucking, farming and custom combining. A few of his hobbies were fishing, gambling and playing cards. Clarence always had fun participating in demolition derbies and figure 8 races. He enjoyed gardening and yard work.
Clarence was preceded in death by two daughters, Denise in 1976 and Leisha in 1965; his father, Harm Aukes in 1996; one brother, Roger in 1996, and one sister, Linda Bachman in 1996.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Judy Aukes of Parkersburg; three daughters, Nancy and her husband Denny Kannegieter of Parkersburg, Peggy and her husband Gary Larson of Aplington and Jamie and her husband Brett Hall of Brownsburg, IN; one son, Bradley and his wife Patricia Karsjens of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; his mother, Lena Aukes of Parkersburg; two sisters, Karen Shelton of Cedar Falls and Cathy and her husband Mike Groen of Parkersburg, one brother, Harold and his wife Roberta of Wellsburg; one sister-in-law, Carol Aukes of Lucas; and one brother-in-law, Bill Bachman of Riverside, MO.
Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
