William E. Heithoff, 67

William E. Heithoff, Jr., of Reinbeck, died of natural causes on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Facility in Waterloo.

A Funeral Liturgy was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Reinbeck. Father Jack Kissling and Father Dennis Quint were con-celebrants. Burial was in the church cemetery. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Action Post #242, Reinbeck. A memorial fund is being established.

Born on March 17, 1933, in Waterloo, William Edward was the son of Mabel Brightwell Heithoff and William Edward Heithoff, Sr. He spent his early childhood near Dike until the fourth grade when the family moved to Reinbeck. Bill graduated from the Reinbeck High School with the Class of 1951. Bill was a veteran of the Untied States Army and served two years during the Korean War.

On Aug. 11, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marie Ragsdale at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. The couple made their home in Reinbeck where Bill owned and operated Heithoff Farm Service Store in Reinbeck during the 1970s. From the late-1970s until mid-1980s, Bill was employed as an office manager for Peterson Construction, Inc. in Reinbeck. Most recently, Bill had worked at the Shive-Hattery Company in Cedar Rapids until 1997.

Bill was a charter member of the Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic church in Reinbeck where he taught high school religious education classes. Bill also served on the Reinbeck School Board for many years and was a member of the Reinbeck Lions Club and the American Legion Action Post #242, Reinbeck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kirk; and a brother, Craig.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Heithoff of Reinbeck; four sons, Brett Heithoff of Marion, Steven Heithoff and his wife Pam of Reinbeck, Marty Heithoff of Gilbert, AZ and Cordel Heithoff of Des Moines; one grandchild, Rachel of Des Moines; three brothers, Joe Heithoff of Des Moines, David Heithoff of Las Vegas, NV and Lynn Heithoff of Des Moines; and a sister, Donna Schneider of Westminster, CO.

Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, was in charge of the arrangements.
