Evelyn B. Murphy, 82

Evelyn B. Murphy, 82, of Reinbeck, died Thursday, April 19 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at the Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Reinbeck. Burial was in the church cemetery. A memorial fund is being established.

Born on September 3, 1918 on a farm north of Reinbeck, Evelyn was the daughter of James and Anna (Fiet) Sell. She grew up in the area of her birth and received her education at the Reinbeck Public School. On February 5, 1942 in rural Grundy County, she was united in marriage to Mr. James O. Murphy of Dike. The couple made their home on a farm north of Reinbeck where they farmed for 30 years until retirement in 1972. They moved to Reinbeck in 1974 where Evelyn worked as a nurse's aid at Parkview Manor until December, 1998. Evelyn was a member of the Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Reinbeck.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James on December 16, 1986; her parents; a sister, Mary Dack and a sister in infancy; and three brothers, Harry, Roy and Elmer Sell.

Surviving are two sons, Tom Murphy of Reinbeck and Mike Murphy and wife Jill of Lees Summit, MO; two grandchildren; three sisters, Irma Keller of Reinbeck, Florence Durham of Faribault, MN and Lavonne DeGroote of Parkersburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Hand Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
