Ben H. Jaspers, Lifelong Shiloh Resident, Buried

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the home and later in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church for Ben H. Jaspers, lifelong Shiloh township resident, who died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Convalescent Home in Waterloo following a stroke.

Rev. Wiert Eekhoff officiated at the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Special music for the funeral was furnished by the Colfax men's quartet composed of Orlen Kruger, Elmer Dieken, Virgil Smit and Alvin Smit. Miss Mae Engelkes was organist.

Casketbearers were Clarence Kruse, John H. Meyer, Jerry Molendorp, Elmer Schultz, Elwin Harms and George Harms.

Flower attendants were Miss Hattie Paterni and Mrs. John Weichers.

Obituary
Ben H. Jaspers was born on Feb. 22, 1876, in Shiloh Township, Grundy County, Iowa. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Jaspers. He was united in marriage to Gretta Meyer on April 28, 1897, the Lord blessing them with 63 years of married life. Mr. and Mrs. Jaspers farmed in the Wellsburg community until the fall of 1937, when they retired to their present home in Wellsburg.

Mr. Jaspers was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, having made profession of faith in 1903. He was a faithful member and served as a deacon in the church for many years.

After a lingering illness at home, Mr. Jaspers was taken to the Allen Memorial hospital on May 17. On June 11 he was transferred to the Woodlawn Convalescent home in Waterloo where he departed this life on June 29, 1960, at 3:35 p.m. reaching the age of 84 years, 4 months and 7 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Wesley Harms and Mrs. John Schafer. He leaves to mourn his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Ben Meyer of Titonka and Mrs. T. K. Bunger of Wellsburg; two brothers, Jake of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and Nate of Clinton, Minn.; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Sluter, Miss Louise Ubben of Ackley; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Evers, Bill Walters, Norman Schulta of Comfrey, Minn.; Theodore Walters, Butterfield, Minn.; Mrs. Harmka Olson and Mrs. Laverna Devillies of St. Paul, Minn.; George Keilman, Greene, Mrs. Gene Reitz, Richard Schafer, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Walters of Mountain Lake, Minn., Mrs. Alice Porter, Iowa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Wilts and Miss Ouster of Shell Rock; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hymingson of Clarksville and Mrs. Johnson of Parkersburg.
