Mrs. Fred Vinton

Maud Hanson was born in Denmark, October 8, 1880 and came to America with her parents in the spring of 1884 living in Lee county, Illinois for four years. In 1888 the family moved to Iowa settling in the vicinity of Union and has lived in this vicinity ever since.

October 11, 1899 she was united in marriage to Fred R. Vinton and this town has since been her home. Three children were born of this union, Cecil, Ode, Lucile. Ode and Lucile stayed with their parents but a brief time but Cecil is left to mourn the loss of a loving mother. Beside the bereaved husband and son there remains to mourn the loss a widowed mother, Mrs. Katherine Hanson of Blue Earth, four brothers, Moses and Hans of Dakota, Martin of Colorado, Fred of Minnesota and six sisters, Cena and Rena of Dakota, Jennie, Elvina and Anna of Minnesota and Mary of Whitten.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. from the Christian church. Flowers were everywhere. The Royal Neighbors of Whitten and Conrad attended in a body. Rev. A. N. Conklin pastor of the Methodist church officiated. Mrs. Vinton was laid to rest in the Benson cemetery beside Ode and Lucile.
