Mrs. Geerd Schutjer

Gazena Terven was born February 28, 1850, at Lehr, Ostfriesland, Germany. She came to America in 1868. In 1870 she was married to Martin Tjaden, in Chicago. From this union there were born ten children, six of whom are living. Her husband died in 1885 and in 1889 she was married to Geerd Schutjer, who died in 1917.

The surviving children by her first husband are Martin Tjaden, of Dakota, Mrs. Henko Schutjer, White, S.D., Albert Tjaden and Mrs. John Abbas of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mrs. John Riekena and George Tjaden of German township.

Mrs. Schutjer is also survived by two brothers and one sister, and twenty-four grandchildren.

The pall bearers at the funeral held at the Bizer church last Saturday were Richard Lindaman, John Riebkes, Menno Kuper, John Boyenga, Jake Riekens, and Claas Christians.
