Death of Mrs. Ludema Woodside

Mrs. Ludema Woodside passed away at her home near Ivester, Sunday evening at 8 o'clock, death resulting from complication of diseases following a five weeks illness. For several months her health had been below normal caused by the anxiety and work connected with the building of her new home and sickness of members of her family. She was compelled to take to her bed before she had fully settled in her charming new hone, the circumstance of which brings a thought of genuine sadness to her friends.

Funeral services were held at Melrose church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Hawn, pastor of the Methodist church at Whitten.

Ludema Sayre was born in Henry county, Ill., Oct. 8th, 1854, aged 61 years, 4 months and 19 days. She moved with her parents to Melrose township, Grundy county, Iowa, in October 1866. She was married to W. J. Woodside, Sept. 17, 1876. To this union was born two children, a girl and boy, both of whom died in infancy.

Mrs. Woodside united in early life with the Methodist church and ever remained a faithful and consistent member, untiring in her zeal and efforts for the church and the good of those about her. The Christ spirit was one of service to her loved ones, and none were denied the advise, sympathy and assistance that her willing heart and hands could furnish. The community is truly caused to mourn in the death of this good woman.

She leaves to mourn her great loss one sister, Mrs. Emma O. Essig, of Eldora, and three brothers, R. W. Sayre, Newton, Iowa; C. W. Sayre, Spokane, Wash.; J. W. Sayre, Hartley, Iowa. She also leaves two dear adopted children Dale and Ruth.--Conrad Record
