Elmer James Boelman, 74

Elmer James Boelman, 74, of Grundy Center, died August 20 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were August 27 at the First Baptist Church in Grundy Center. Burial followed at the Stout Cemetery in Stout.

Elmer was born on August 3, 1927 in New Hartford, the son of Henry and Martha (Bergman) Boelman. He attended Robertson grade school in Robertson, Iowa. On November 21, 1949 in Austinville, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Bruns. Elmer worked at various jobs but last worked for Van Wechel Motors in Grundy Center for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he and Kathryn were custodians for many years.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn of Grundy Center; two sons, Stan and his wife Paula Boelman of Luton, England and Larry Boelman of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Tim and Jon Boelman; and a sister-in-law, Bernadine Boelman of Ackley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers, and a brother, Herman Boelman.
