Fannie Viet Funeral Monday

Mrs. Fannie Viet of Stout died Friday, February 3, 1978, in the Grundy Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 28 days. Mrs. Viet had been a patient at the long term care center of the hospital for 10 months.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 6, 1978, at 1:30 p.m. in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland with Rev. Carl Regnerus officiating. Mrs. Clarence Walterman was the organist and Wayne Arends the vocalist. Interment was in the Stout Cemetery.

Fannie was born the daughter of Gerhard and Martha Kruse Berends on Sept. 6, 1892 in Butler County rural Parkersburg, and attended school south of Stout in Grundy Co. She married George Viet on Dec. 8, 1919 in the parsonage of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland. They farmed south of Stout until retiring to their present home in Stout in the year 1950.

Mrs. Viet was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Holland.

Survivors are: 3 sons, Ben of Traer, George of Dike, and Herman of Reinbeck; 3 daughters, Mrs. Herman (Martha) VanHauen of Holland, Mrs. Louis (Jennie) Bakker, and Mrs. Elizabeth Clapp, both of Dike, 28 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 sisters, Mrs. Brunk (Minnie) Lauterbach of Parkersburg, Mrs. Reinhard (Marie) Kalkwarf, Dike, Mrs. Martha Behrends of Stout, Mrs. E. B. (Elisabeth) Engelkes of Stout, and Mrs. Elmer (June) Meester of Parkersburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George in 1966, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 son, and 1 grandson.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
