Rites Tuesday For Henry Behrends
Henry H. Behrends, 75 years, 8 days old, died about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 of an apparent heart attack in his home at Stout. He had a heart condition since 1962, and many times he had been in and out of the hospital.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1977, at the Reformed Church of Stout with Rev. Mark Volkers officiating. John R. Claassen was organist and Chris Junker was the soloist. Casketbearers were Allen Aswegan Jr., Tom, Ted and Tim Junker, Kim David Kramer and Randy Charlton. Interment was in the Stout Cemetery.
The Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of arrangements.
Henry was born the son of Henricks and Sandle Murra Behrends on Aug. 26, 1902 in Grundy county near Wellsburg. He attended rural school in Grundy county.
Mr. Behrends was united in marriage with Martha Berends on June 22, 1927, in the parsonage of the Wellsburg Reformed Church. They lived in Grundy county and moved to their present home in Stout on Dec. 8, 1945.
Mr. Behrends was employed at John Deere and Co. for 18 1/2 years. Most of the time he worked as a Security Guard. He also was an active member of the Reformed Church of Stout.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; 4 daughters: Mrs. Paul (Marcella) Kramer, Shell Rock; Mrs. Gerry (Frances) Grove, Conrad; Mrs. Frederick (Norma) Junker, Parkersburg; and Mrs. Allen (Ramona) Aswegan of Muscatine; one sister, Miss Sadie Behrends of Wellsburg and 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one half-brother.
