Services Saturday For Mrs. Petersen
Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at the Reformed church in Stout for Mrs. Jessie Petersen, who died at a daughter's home at Stout last Wednesday, October 12th. The service was conducted by Rev. A. Roskamp, pastor of the church at Stout. Burial was in the cemetery at Stout. Nephews of the deceased were casket bearers. The Engelkes Funeral Home at Parkersburg had charge of the funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Petersen was 90 years old on the 9th of last March. She was born at Freeport, Ill. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wickers. The family moved to Grundy county during her youth. They lived for several years on the farm a short distance west of Fern.
Jessie Wickers and J. H. (Herman) Petersen were married Mar. 7, 1892. For many years the couple resided on a farm a short distance south of the former Lear creamery. They moved to the town of Stout 36 years ago, where they spent their remaining years. Mrs. Petersen's husband died in 1951. Since that time she made her home with one of her daughters in Stout.
The couple had four daughters: Mrs. Henrietta VanEllen, Stout; Mrs. Trena Bruns, Stout. Two daughters preceded the mother in death. They were Mrs. Katie Bruns, and Ella who lived with her mother until Ella died a few months ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Henrietta VanEllen and Mrs. Fred Bruns, both of near Stout; four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
