Elizabeth DeVries Dies at Hospital

Miss Elizabeth DeVries died Wednesday May 16, at the Grundy Memorial hospital. She was brought to the hospital the day before her death. Cancer was the cause of her death. She had been in failing health for more than a year.

The body was taken to the Engelkes Funeral Home at Parkersburg where a short service was held Saturday afternoon. Later services were at the Reformed church at Stout with Rev. A. Roskamp officiating. Burial was in the cemetery at Stout.

Miss DeVries was 67 years old. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeVries. She was born on a farm in Lincoln township December 15, 1888. Later the family moved to a farm south of Stout. After the death of her parents, Miss DeVries and her brother Ralph moved to Stout. The brother died ten years ago. Miss DeVries lived alone after that time.

There were two sons and three daughters in the DeVries family. Only one is now living. He is Henry, who is in a sanitarium at Independence.

Surviving relatives aside from the brother are four nephews and one niece.
