Dick Hessenius Died Monday
Dick Hessenius was born in Beaver township, near the present town of Stout, Sept. 21, 1873. He lived in this locality practically all his life. He was engaged in farming until he and his sister Maggie retired to Stout, in the year 1912. Here he lived until last summer, when he began to make his home with his nephew, Edward Hessenius, and family, at Austin, Minn., where he was cared for up to the time when his summons came. He passed away Monday evening, March 1, reaching the age of 80 years, 5 months and 8 days.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John of Des Moines in 1941; Casper in 1944; Henry of Oregon in 1950; and two sisters, Christina and Maggie, in 1932.
He is survived by two brothers, Ned of Brownsdale, Minn., and Ben of Stout; two nephews and three nieces, besides other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 4, at the Reformed church of Stout, Rev. W. J. Heyenga officiating. Burial was in the family lot in the Stout cemetery.
