Obituary Ralph DeVries

Ralph DeVries was born on a farm south of Stout, in Lincoln township, to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeVries Sr., Dec. 15, 1896. He moved to Stout with his parents and two sisters in 1913, which continued to be his home until death called him to the great beyond Wednesday, Feb. 27, 1946, at the age of 49 years, 2 months, 12 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John DeVries, and by two sisters, Fannie (Mrs. Jake Meyer) and Dena (Mrs. E. Decknadel); also one nephew, Cpl. Roy Decknadel, who was reported killed in action a years ago.

Surviving him are one sister, Elizabeth DeVries, who lived with him in Stout; two brothers, Ippe DeVries of near Cedar Falls and Henry DeVries of near Wellsburg; a brother-in-law, Jake Meyer; one niece and five nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. W. J. Heyenga, and Rev. K. Tebben from Parkersburg at the Reformed church in Stout, of which the deceased was a member. Burial was in the family lot on the Stout cemetery.

Pallbearers were four nephews, John and Ralph DeVries, Edward Decknadel, James Meyer, and Paul Aswegan and Harold Rademaker.
