Mrs. D. Decknadel Died Thursday

Mrs. Dena Decknadel died suddenly Thursday evening at the home of her brother, Ralph DeVries, in Stout. She had gone to the DeVries home Tuesday evening because she was not feeling well. She was 61 years, 8 mos. and 22 days of age.

Short services were held at the DeVries home Monday afternoon, followed by services at the Chr. Reformed church in Parkersburg, of which she had recently become a member. Rev. K. Tebben was in charge of the service.

Mrs. Esther Dena Decknadel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeVries, was born in Lincoln township, Grundy county, April 15, 1882. She married Elso Decknadel Feb. 24, 1909, who preceded her in death in Sept. 1931. Three sons were born to them.

The deceased lived in this community until last fall, when she retired from the farm and moved to Parkersburg. She had been ill for many years, suffering with diabetes, which was the cause of her death.

Burial was in the Stout cemetery, besides her husband. She is survived by three sons: Edward, of near Stout; Roy, who is serving in the Army, stationed in Italy; Marvin of Woodward; two daughters-in-law; one sister, Miss Lizzie DeVries of Stout; three brothers, Ralph of Stout, Ippe of Cedar Falls, and Henry of Holland. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, John DeVries, and a sister, Mrs. Jake Meyer.
