Edward Bergman Dies Following Long Illness
Edward Harvey Bergman, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Hillert Bergman, died at 3:30 Thursday morning at the Waverly hospital. He had been bedfast since last Christmas. Immediate cause of death was heart trouble. Edward had an attack of scarlet fever at an early age and it is thought the disease left him with a weak heart.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Reformed church in Stout. Rev. W. J. Heyenga, pastor of the church, conducted the services. There was an attendance of more than 800, and the church auditorium and basement were too small to accommodate all. Burial was in the cemetery at Stout.
Edward Harvey Bergman was born September 15, 1925, and was 14 years, 10 months and 3 days old at the time of his death. He was taken to the Waverly hospital on the Sunday preceding his death. He is survived by his parents, an older brother, William, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Bergman and Mr. and Mrs. Harm Konken; his great-grandmother, Mrs. Jacob Meester; besides many other relatives and friends.
