Mrs. Henry Rathman Dead At Dike from Heart Trouble

Mrs. Henry Rathman died at her home in Dike at 12:10 Monday morning. Death was due to heart trouble, from which she had been suffering the past year.

Emma S. Roehrs was born near York Center, Ill., Aug. 1, 1872, and came to Iowa in March, 1877, with her parents and settled on a farm in Grundy county. On Nov. 3, 1893, she married Henry Rathman. To this union seven children were born, five of whom preceded her in death. The family lived for a number of years on a farm south of Dike. Later they moved to Dike and the son, Elmer, farmed the place.

She leaves her husband, the son Elmer, and a daughter, Mrs. John Schmidt of Waterloo; also four grandchildren, one of whom, Francis Rathman, made his home with his grandparents.

The body was taken to the Gange funeral home in Reinbeck. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Dike Methodist church, with Dr. J. J. Hoffmann officiating. Burial will be in the Dike cemetery.
