Mrs. Ben Ackerman died at her home south of Aplington Sunday morning after several weeks of illness of blood pressure and other complications.

Elizabeth Ackerman, nee Hayenga, was born in Stevenson County, Ill., on July 4, 1857. At the age of ten years she, with her parents, moved to a farm in German township three miles southeast of Ackley, Iowa. Here she lived until the year 1875 when she was united in marriage with Ben Ackerman. They then moved three miles south of Aplington where they resided until the time of her death which occurred Sunday, Feb. 1, 1920 at the age of sixty-two years, six months and seventeen days.

Those who preceded her in death are an infant son and daughter Nancy who died in 1904 at the age of twenty years. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and twelve children, Mrs. Uko Wiarda, Mrs. Jake Wiarda, Wm., Fred, Charles, Nettie, Ben, Thomas, Clara, John, Lulu, and Elmer. One daughter, Mrs. Uko Wiarda was unable to be present at the funeral on account of being ill. Besides her immediate family she is survived by two brothers, Folkert Hayenga and Ben Heyenga, her twin brother.

The funeral services were held at the Agena church Thursday, Rev. Agena, the pastor, assisted by Rev. Schnucker of Aplington officiating. A choir from Aplington sang at the house and two beautiful selections at the church. Her six oldest sons acted as pall bearers and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the church.
