Mrs. Margretha Harken, nee Wighman, a long time resident and highly respected Christian worker died Saturday morning at her home southwest of Austinville at the age of sixty-one years, ten months and five days following an illness of several months standing. Mrs. Harken was born in Uttom, Germany, August 12, 1854, and came to this country with her parents when two years of age to Forreston, Ill., where she grew to womanhood and on November 28, 1874 was united in marriage with Ubbe Harken and came to Butler county, Iowa, in the spring of 1875 where she has made her home ever since. She was the mother of thirteen children, eight boys and five girls, four of whom and her husband have preceded her to the better land. The surviving children are C. U., R. U., I. U., D. D., and Claas, Mrs. Neymeyer, Miss Anna M. and Mrs. Peter Rops all of this locality; also a half-sister living at Forreston, Ill., and a number of grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Agena and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at the Agena church beside her loved ones who had preceded her to the great beyond.
