Keith Sillman, 45, Elevator Manager, Dies

Keith R. Sillman, 45, of Wellsburg, passed away at 3:58 a.m. Sunday morning, June 26, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora. Concelebrants were Father John J. Brickley, Father Justin Kane, and Deacon Wayne Cashatt.

Organist was Mark McClellan and a quartet performed "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were Jim Heikens, Bob Valentine, Bob Nielson, Jerry Schrader, Mark Bessman, and Ken Mehman. Honorary casket bearers were William VanDeest, Raymond Walsh, Leland Heinrich, and Jim Potgeter.

Ushers were Glen Donner and Ron Kadolph. Flower ladies were Mrs. Kenny Harms and Mrs. Lowell Riekena.

Interment was held in the Shiloh Township Cemetery, Wellsburg.

Keith Robert Sillman, son of Edward and Ruth Holck Sillman, was born November 8, 1942, in Britt. He received his education in the Britt Community School where he graduated in 1961. He then attended Wartburg College from 1961 to 1962.

On December 28, 1963, Keith was married to Mary Ellen Pritchard.

In 1971, he graduated from Felco-Land O'Lakes Management Development School.

In February of 1972, he began in the position of manager at the Wellsburg Elevator where he worked until the time of his death.

Keith served as president of the Jaycees, he was a volunteer fireman for Meservey and Wellsburg, and was a member of the Wellsburg Community Club. He also served as the Wellsburg Chapter Webelos leader, little league basketball coach, and he participated on the Wellsburg fast pitch softball team. Keith also was elected to the President's Council for Golden Sun Feeds in 1978, 1982, and 1983.

He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldora.

Keith contributed generously of time to his work, to the community and most importantly, to his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, and one sister.

Keith is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Erin Sillman of Roseville, MN; Christopher Sillman of Ames; Molly, Anthony, and Anne Sillman of Wellsburg; one grandchild, Sarah Sillman, of Roseville, MN; his mother, Ruth Sillman of Britt; four sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Karen) Olthoff, Mason City, Mrs. Alan (Marlys) Perkins, Donna Sillman, and Mrs. Ron (Pam) Eden, all of Britt.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
