Gerriet Ohling Buried Monday

The funeral of Gerriet John Ohling, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Ohling, was held Monday, Feb. 16, at the German Reformed church in Wellsburg, Rev. Wm. Landsiedel the pastor, being in charge of the services.

The funeral was largely attended, a large number of the schoolmates of the young man, whose room had been dismissed, being present to pay their last respects to the memory of their schoolmate and friend.

To these young people, Rev. Landsiedel made a short address, in well chosen words, which was especially impressive as part of the services.

Beautiful floral offerings graced the casket, from members of the Sunday school and the Wellsburg school.

The text of the sermon was taken from Mark 6:45-51.

The pall bearers were Ubbe Peters, Ben Hoekstra, Henry Koch, Chris Miller, Henry Aalfs and Evert Ross.

Obituary
Gerriet John Ohling was born Dec. 12, 1904, at Westerhusen by Emden, Hanover province, Germany, and died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1920, having reached the age of 15 years and 2 months.

He leaves besides his parents, four brothers and two sisters, to mourn his loss. They are Mrs. Wort Meyer, Kuno, John, Klara, Andrew and Edward Ohling.

Gerriet came to this country with his parents March 20, 1913, and had lived with them on the farm close to Wellsburg all his life. He was taken sick only about a week before his death, which was a sad shock to all.

Gerriet or "George" as he was called by most of his acquaintances, was a boy of splendid character, and stood high in estimation of his teachers. His untimely passing cuts short the development of a promising life, and the sympathy of the whole community is with his relatives in their loss.
