Former Grundy Man Dead
H. Eisentrager, Sr., died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Claas DeBoer, in this city last Sunday morning at 12:45 o'clock. The old gentleman's illness dates from a fall he sustained last April on a slippery sidewalk, and he has been confined to his bed the greater portion of the time since that accident. He had reached the age of 83 years, 9 months and 10 days, and his age was against his rallying from the effects of the fall. Old age gradually overcame him and he passed away without a struggle after a long and useful life. He was born in Germany and came to this country many years ago, living first in Illinois and about forty years ago moving to Iowa. For many years the family made their home in Grundy county where his wife died 22 years ago. He lived in Ackley for about thirteen years and for several years past has made his home with his daughter at this place. He leaves two sons, H. Eisentrager of Dumont and John of Ackley, besides the daughter in this place. The funeral services were held at the house at 12:30 o'clock on Tuesday and at the Reformed church at 1, in charge of Rev. Bruns of Ackley, and the remains were laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley cemetery beside the wife of his youth. A large crowd of friends and neighbors of the family attended the services.--Parkersburg Eclipse
