Mrs. Jacob Bottema Dead
Mrs. Jacob Bottema died at her home west of town last Friday night. Death came as a result of an operation for the removal of a tumor. Mrs. Bottema was operated on at Marshalltown. She seemed to be recovering from the operation very satisfactorily. She was allowed to leave for home too soon. Infection set in the wound a few days after she returned to her home and this resulted in her death. Doctors from Dike, Parkersburg and Grundy Center held consultation at the Bottema home on Friday but they realized that they could do nothing.
Funeral services were held at the home at ten o'clock on Tuesday. Dr. W. Bode had charge of the services here. Following the services at the home the remains were taken to the Hoefker church west of Wellsburg for interment. Services in the church were conducted by Rev. Hoefker.
Mrs. Bottema's maiden name was Etta Isebrands. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Isebrands and she was born in Shiloh township in this county. She was married there thirteen years ago. Two children survive from this union, one a son twelve years old and one a daughter of six. Mrs. Bottema's father is dead. Her mother still lives and she has in late years been making her home at Titonka.
Those from a distance who were here at the funeral were John and Ida Isebrands from Titonka and Ed. Eiters from Germania.
