Gerhart Bakker Dies Suddenly

Gerhart Bakker died very suddenly at his home in Wellsburg Sunday morning from heart failure. He got up Monday morning in his usually good health. He had his breakfast, had lit his morning pipe and went out to the water closet about eight o'clock. A short time after that members of the family found him there dead. Death was due to heart failure though Mr. Bakker had never complained of this trouble before. Mr. Bakker was eighty-two years old on his last birthday.

Funeral services will be held at the house at twelve o'clock Thursday and later at the Rev. Hoefker church west of town.

Mr. Bakker was born in Emden, Ostfriesland, Germany, June 6th, 1829. He was married in Germany to Miss Elske Rademaker. Mr. Bakker and family came to this country in 1886 and located on a farm in Shiloh township. Five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Bakker retired from farm work and moved to Wellsburg where they have since resided. Mr. Bakker was the father of four children who together with the aged wife survive. The children are Mrs. Ludwig Meints, Menne, Leu and John Bakker. All are here to attend the funeral services.
