Death of John Mennenga

John Mennenga died at his home in Wellsburg about five o'clock Friday afternoon. He had been sick about two months with cancer of the liver. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Hoefker were held at the Reformed church west of town Tuesday p.m.

Mr. Mennenga would have been 79 years old next December. He was born in Ostfriesland and when a young man, came to Ogle county, Ill. Forty years ago he came west and located in Shiloh township and he resided there continually up to the time of his death. He retired from farming last year and moved to town with the hope of spending several more years in peace and comfort.

Mr. Mennenga is survived by a wife and five children. The children are Mrs. Hemmo Luppen, Mrs. Hilko Bleeker, Mrs. John Rah. The two sons are John and Ubbo. There are five grandchildren.
